Chelsea’s Strategic Move to Secure Victor Osimhen Transfer
As the summer transfer window approaches, the football world is abuzz with speculation and rumors surrounding the potential movements of top players. One such player who has been grabbing headlines is Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen. Despite being heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, reports now suggest that English Premier League side Chelsea is intensifying its efforts to snatch Osimhen away from Napoli.
The 25-year-old forward is set to depart Napoli this summer, with a formidable €120 million release clause hanging over potential suitors. Both PSG and Chelsea are vying for his signature, each with their own motivations driving the pursuit.

PSG, facing the impending departure of Kylian Mbappe, have identified Osimhen as a prime candidate to strengthen their attacking line-up. On the other hand, Chelsea, eager to bounce back from a disappointing season under Mauricio Pochettino, are looking to shake things up with the addition of the talented Nigerian striker.
Recent reports from leading Italian tabloid Gazzetta dello Sport shed light on Chelsea’s elaborate strategy to sway Osimhen towards a move to West London. The Blues have devised a plan that involves offering a lucrative deal to entice both the player and Napoli’s owner, De Laurentiis.
Chelsea is prepared to substantially raise Osimhen’s current wages of €10 million per season, signaling their commitment to securing his services. However, rather than meeting the daunting release clause in full, the club aims to negotiate a deal worth around €80 million. This proposed agreement would not only involve a significant transfer fee but also include the exchange of players, notably Romelu Lukaku and a promising young talent.
According to Vincenzo D’Angelo of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Osimhen is drawn to the prospect of joining Chelsea due to his long-standing dream of playing in the Premier League and emulating the feats of his idol, Didier Drogba, a legendary figure in Chelsea’s history.
Amidst Chelsea’s bold maneuvering, transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio suggests that PSG still holds a strong position in the race to secure Osimhen’s signature. With PSG eyeing Osimhen as a direct replacement for Mbappe, who is poised to join Real Madrid, the French champions are reportedly willing to match the €130 million release clause from Osimhen’s recent contract extension with Napoli.
As the transfer saga unfolds, the competition between Chelsea, PSG and possibly Liverpool for Victor Osimhen intensifies, promising an intriguing battle for his coveted talents in the upcoming transfer window. Fans and pundits alike eagerly await the resolution of this high-stakes pursuit, which could potentially reshape the landscape of European football.
