How We Plan to Make Nigerian Youths Self-employed – NDE DG
The Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, has emphasized the importance of Nigerian youths taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the government to become self-employed through skills acquisition programs. This commitment was reiterated during the flag off of the Basic Open National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (B-NOAS) in Kebbi State.
Seizing Opportunities for Self-Employment
In his address at the event, Mr. Francis Ambianto Amos, the Kebbi State Coordinator of the NDE, highlighted the federal government’s dedication to ensuring that young people in the country have the chance to be self-employed through skills training. The carefully selected participants from all the local government areas of the state were urged to see themselves as fortunate to be part of the training program.
“Don’t be deceived,” Fikpo emphasized, “the skills you acquire in this training are crucial to your success. Many individuals desire to participate but only a few are selected. Therefore, consider yourselves privileged to be among the chosen twenty individuals.”
The Significance of Life-Skill Training
Hajia Amina Shettima Lema, the Director of Special Skills at the NDE Headquarters in Abuja, stressed the importance of holding onto the skills obtained during the training. She emphasized that these skills are not just for the present moment but are essential life skills that encompass discipline, focus, time management, and consciousness. It is crucial for participants to recognize the value of what they are learning and apply it in their future endeavors.
Taking Control of Your Future
By engaging in programs like the B-NOAS, Nigerian youths have the opportunity to take control of their future and become self-reliant through the acquisition of practical skills. The government’s commitment to supporting these initiatives underscores the importance of investing in the country’s youth and providing them with the tools they need to succeed in a competitive job market.
The Way Forward
As the FG remains committed to making Nigerian youths self-employed, it is essential for young people to take advantage of the opportunities presented to them through the NDE and other government agencies. By acquiring relevant skills, seeking mentorship, and leveraging financial support, young entrepreneurs can contribute to the growth and development of the Nigerian economy.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the empowerment of Nigerian youths is crucial for sustainable economic development and social progress. Through initiatives like those implemented by the Federal Government, young people have the chance to realize their entrepreneurial dreams and become self-reliant. It is imperative for all stakeholders to work together to ensure the success of these programs and create a conducive environment for youth entrepreneurship to thrive.
Also, the NDE’s dedication to making Nigerian youths self-employed is a testament to the government’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation among the country’s young population. By taking advantage of programs like the B-NOAS, young people have the chance to develop valuable skills that will not only benefit them personally but also contribute to the overall growth and development of the nation.
