Adeleke Bolsters Security in Osun Amid Alleged Deportation of Youths from Lagos
In a recent development that has sparked concern and raised eyebrows in the community of Ilesa, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State took swift action to beef up security measures in response to reports alleging the deportation of some youths from Lagos to the serene town of Ilesa and its environs.
The unfolding of events began on Monday, May 6, when a directive was issued by Governor Adeleke to enhance security protocols within Ilesa and its surrounding areas. This decision came in the wake of alarming revelations that a group of youths had been rounded up in various locations across Lagos before being unceremoniously transported to Ilesa.
A statement released by Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, shed light on the distressing situation. The youths in question were reportedly herded into luxury buses that ferried them from Lagos to Ilesa. Shockingly, they were then left stranded at key junctions within the town, including the Ilesa-Akure Express junction, the route from Ilesa to Ibodi via Iginla to Ife Express junction, the Osun Ankara Express junction, the Imelu Express junction, and the Iperindo Express junction.
Expressing his dismay at the unsettling turn of events, Governor Adeleke promptly reached out to his counterpart in Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, seeking clarification and reassurance. Governor Sanwo-Olu swiftly responded, vehemently denying any involvement or authorization of such a distressing act. He pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and provide updates expeditiously.
“I am shocked over the matter and urged Governor Sanwo-Olu to look into the matter,” Governor Adeleke stated. “I spoke with my brother, Governor Sanwo-Olu on the matter. He too was surprised and he denied ever authorizing any such action. The Lagos team will update us as quickly as possible.”
In light of the gravity of the situation, Governor Adeleke wasted no time in directing the security agencies in Osun to step up surveillance efforts in and around Ilesa. Their primary objective is to trace the whereabouts of the deported youths and ensure their safety and well-being. The Governor reassured the residents of Ilesa to remain calm while the security agencies carry out their diligent surveillance operations.
As this unfolding saga continues to unravel, it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of prompt and decisive action in safeguarding the welfare and rights of individuals within our communities. The collaborative efforts between the governments of Osun and Lagos underscore the critical need for transparent communication, accountability, and unwavering commitment to upholding justice and human dignity.
In conclusion, Governor Adeleke’s proactive response to the alleged deportation incident demonstrates his unwavering dedication to ensuring the security and protection of all residents in Osun State. By prioritizing swift action and open dialogue with his counterparts, he sets a commendable example of leadership in times of crisis, fostering trust and unity among communities in the face of adversity.
